About this instrument
This very fine violin by Georges Apparut, made in Mirecourt in 1930, survives in an exceptionally fresh, almost as-new state of preservation. The instrument is made to an interesting and individual model, clearly influenced by Amati.
Particularly attractive is the one-piece back of finely clouded maple, which, together with the warm golden-brown varnish, gives the violin a highly elegant and harmonious appearance.
The violin has an open, powerful and richly coloured tone, with very good response. It responds immediately to the bow while allowing pleasing tonal modulation, enabling the sound to be shaped with ease and varied across a broad palette of colours. A French instrument of particular tonal and visual appeal, in an exceptional state of preservation.
