About this instrument
An exceptionally well-preserved violin by Gaetano Gadda, made in Mantua in 1928. The instrument remains in remarkably original condition and even retains its original pegs—a rare detail that particularly accentuates the violin’s authentic character.
Visually, it is an especially attractive example of his work. The warm, characterful varnish harmonises beautifully with the deeply and elegantly flamed maple of the back, ribs and neck. Overall, the violin presents a remarkably coherent, distinguished and virtually untouched appearance.
Tonally, it impresses with a powerful, dark and richly coloured sound that also offers a wealth of nuance. Particularly pleasing is its exceptionally easy and immediate response, making the instrument effortless to play and quickly opening up a broad tonal palette to the musician.
A beautiful and exceptionally original example from the Mantuan tradition of the early 20th century—a truly distinctive instrument, both tonally and visually.
