My path

A personal perspective formed through daily comparison

For nearly 20 years I have worked with violins, violas, cellos and bows every day. Direct comparison of historic instruments, collaboration with specialists and thousands of conversations with musicians form the foundation of my work.

Over time, I have developed a clear sense of what a client is truly looking for—tonally, technically and personally. I listen closely and prepare a selection that makes sense not only on paper, but above all in the hand and under the bow.

Ongoing exchange with musicians, collectors, workshops and dealers keeps me closely informed about the international market, current price developments and the availability of comparable instruments. This allows me to make recommendations that are both well-founded and commercially realistic.

A craftsman’s perspective

Understanding craft. Recognising substance.

Historic instruments can only be assessed responsibly when construction, materials, previous work and later alterations are considered together. This practical perspective informs every examination, supported by exchange with experienced restorers and specialist colleagues.
